Colegio San Patricio is a Colombian school that understands and assumes the responsibility of preparing its students to interact in a globalized world where the use of languages other than Spanish, is indispensable. We offer an English program that enables senior students to be communicatively competent in a second language.
In 2011 we offer a bilingual education from nursery to 5th grade, with at least three subjects studied in English of between 12 and 16 hours per week. In high school we offer English levels to ensure that every student has the opportunity to achieve their fullest potential in this second language. In 2012 we will have three individual subjects taught in English up through 9th grade. All students from 1st elementary to 11th grade take the exams designed by the British Council: CAMBRIDGE YOUNG LEARNERS TESTS (YLE): (Starters, Movers, Flyers) PET, KET; and eleventh graders also take the TOEFL exam.
To reinforce a bilingual education we foster cultural exchange with other countries. During the past three years our students have traveled to Canada where they lived with a Canadian family, attended school for six weeks and complemented this experience with extracurricular activities, short trips and visits to various cultural sites that enrich their experience.
